*Updated* AMD GPU Folding on 12.11 beta drivers and 13.1 WHQL drivers - Page 24

Hey everybody haven't posted here in a while and I just got back into folding since I got a new card. I have a 7950 and a 6770. I followed the directions to the letter but my cards are still only folding at 30-40%. I have my cpu folding on two cores and left two open cores for my gpus. Is there some type of conflict with having two different series cards in the same machine?

I don't think you can GPU fold in a VM.

I'm folding in Win 8 on a single AMD GPU right now, and I haven't had issues.  I suppose I can try throwing my 680 in as well, but I don't think my little 500W PSU will like that.

There shouldn't be a conflict with different series AMD cards, it's probably just the drivers.  When you say you followed the directions to the letter, which directions?  There are a couple options of ways to do it in the OP.

1 - Uninstall current Catalyst Driver in the Windows Control Panel. Reboot in Safe Mode
2 - Run CCleaner registry cleaner. Backup changes to registry and fix all selected issues. Reboot
3 - Disable UAC. Reboot

4 - Open CMD as Administrator and run ATIMan
5- System will automatically reboot
6 - Install Bal3Wolf's modded 13.1 or 12.11 Beta driver
7 - Install AMD_Catalyst_12.11_CAP2.exe. Reboot
8 - Run folding client to ensure that gpu usage is at max.

I had UAC disabled from the beginning.

I'm going try again but with the 13.1 instead of the 12.11

Try using Driver Fusion to remove the old traces, rather than those other steps.  I've gone from NV to AMD, back to NV, back to AMD in the last two weeks, only using Driver Fusion, and it's worked fine for me.  After I just removed NV drivers with it, I just installed Official 13.2 beta 6, and I'm getting 92-95% usage on my 7950.  Now I've got to go back, and try again myself, but I wanted to see if AMD had made any progress with their new drivers, it seems better, but still not up to par.

[edit]

I just left the 13.2 beta 6 drivers installed, and removed my SMP client, now I am seeing a steady 97% GPU utilization:

The PPD is still a bit low at only 6.3K, IIRC on the modded drivers I was getting ~ 8.5K PPD.

Well I tried it again and now I have my 7950 running at 99%. The client says 6770 is running but msi afterburner shows it at 0%. Which is weird because task manger shows this

Yeah when afterburner shows 0% it has crashed. Either restart the client or pause/start it. If it crashes again then you have an unstable folding system.

But wouldn't the client log files give me an error or something?

Try this with multiple GPUs. Client isn't smart enough to keep WUs separate. They could even be trying to run on the same card leaving one empty.
