As to it being cheaper, I'm not surprised, it's easier to hit 5ghz with a 2600k with moderate cooling than it is to do so with a 3770k.

You are traveling down a road that goes no where. You and I both understand that these chips are basically the same outside of intense benchmarks, but some users believe its night and day difference. I guess some would rather take a razor blade to sensitive 320 dollar PC parts than buy the ancient (doh.gif) tech that does not have these problems and suffer the 3% loss in performance.

Doesn't make sense to me either. I've had my 2600K for close to two years now and my rig still feels as new as the day I built it.

its been said in reviews from the start,
if you run one of the sandy's, stick with it,
except if you need the extra's Ivy has build in..

i came from a amd 1100T, waited for the FX..
so you know why i went for the 3770k,
having said that, i bought this 3770k, the K version because i could oc it,
when i started ocing, i couldnt even run a 4.4-4.5ghz oc..

i think intel screwed me, i payed alot of money(310 euro), for a chip that i couldnt even clock as high as sandy,
because of the temps..without delidding that is,

so, i delidded it, and now i can run it like it supposed to be from the start.
if intel didnt mess up with the tim(to much) and IHS distance to the die..
still glad they didnt solder it like sandy tho ..lol

Not sure how that is fair to you, the consumer...

Intel releases a cpu revision that they indicate will provide roughly a 10% performance increase at identical clocks.
They provide a die shrink that in theory should require less vcore

What we got was a chip that is about 3-4% faster than an equivalent chip, running 20c hotter and needing equal or greater vcore for stable overclocking to the prior generation. Not sure how this was a step forward.

The solution? Chop it up, void the warranty and then it will actually run as a better chip rolleyes.gif

With the 3770k I bought, for a meager 4.5ghz overclock, I need 1.28 vcore for stability and temps were in the high 70's with an Antec Kuehler 920 maxed out. For my 2600k, I need only 1.23 vcore and my temps are high 50's maxed out.

On Avg 5-10% You got some token Benchmarks there bud..

Also Ivy runs cooler "heat does not transfer to Ihs because of glue" does it mean it is hotter.. means heat transfer is bad.. when it is fixed it is the cooler running higher overlocking chip and uses less power... And has more features..

3% finding the smallest number there aren't we?

But i expect that from you wink.gif

Your argument used to be.. Sandy cost less buy it.. i see now that it cost more it has changed to this.. lachen.gif

You edited your rig name to "Sandy Bridge Fan Boi Slayer" after we had a discussion how Ivy was better (note how I said it was better, I am not disagreeing clock for clock), but not worth an upgrade from Sandy since its minimally better. This shows how mature you are. I am OK with him having Ivy. If someone were to ask what to buy, I would tell them Ivy. It's tiring having you come into threads and tell others that your Ivy rig runs circles around Sandy bridge equivalents, because its 100% false. If you run Cinebench, it benches better. Great. If I am a gamer and do normal work with my chip, Ivy isn't going to be noticeable for the differences it provides around Sandy. When Haswell comes out, I am expecting it to be better than both by a worth while margin to rave about it.

It astounds me how anyone takes your advice since your reasoning is horrible and your spelling and grammar are even worse. He wants to OC high but has no money. I'd much rather have a Sandy chip OCed to 4.8 or so than try to delid and ruin (I've seen you've delidded yours, great job, we are all so proud, but not everyone can do this and is comfortable doing it) his current chip and be without. For the record, my opinion is to keep his current chip, not delid it, enjoy it for the speed it is at (since its more than most will need), and be done. I only bring this up since you are going at it again with another member about how Ivy cures cancer, can produce free oil and can end world hunger. Lets promote it for what it is, a small step above Sandy, and not the "Slayer" you claim it to be.

Why you gotta Troll me bro?

And you will Notice a difference in games... Cpu heavy games you are trying to run 120fps for your 120hz monitor another 10fps is always welcome in my book...
and for less money. tongue.gif

And do not say that is not gonna Happen cause i play 2 games right now my 3770k bottlenecks in so yah wink.gif

My Rig has had the Same name for the past Month wink.gif
