Why would you expect a completely rehauled engine when

BF3 came out 2 years ago
BF3 billed as "next-gen for current gen hardware"
new consoles haven't even been announced yet
barely any of the upcoming EA titles announced thatusing FB2.0 has not come out yet
EA put a massive team to develop this engine for their entire portfolio so don't expect them to ditch it any time soon.

If they wanna do 2 year cycle..fine and compete closer with COD fine they already lost enough fans...just dont friggin announce it when half of BF3 DLC aren't even out yet..it looks very desperate and anyone can officially label DICE as a cash cow for EA

With the right training a woman is capable of fighting on a battlefield. History has proven this many times. They don't in a lot of countries for reasons outside of physicality. In my military time I met women who were more than capable of keeping up with me and even tearing me a new one, hehe.
Just because you don't see them on the frontline it doesn't mean they don't see combat and when they do they need to be just as good regardless. Oh and regarding size, Men can be different sizes too. As previously noted, it's not all about physicality (though I'll agree a degree of it is important).

That woman proves nothing, do you actually think that the people in the Olympics are the best in the world? No, they are the ones that could get funding for training and compete. There is always going to be someone better out there. The guys weight lifting in the Olympics would get destroyed by the strongman comp guys but they aren't training for that. The weight lifting guys are said to be the best in the world, when in fact they are not. Same goes for every single event, they are not the best in the world, they are the best in the Olympics.

Want to see BC3 on a more complete/optimized frost bite 2.0 engine.

They said it wasn't the end of it, damn it!

Biggest problem for me... aside from the absolutely ridiculous idea of female soldiers on the front line... is WHY are they still using Frostbite 2 at all? Why not push development for a better optimized Frostbite 3 engine?
I simply don't buy the 30% line about BF3 and Frostbite 2 either. BF3 is lacking certain elements that were present in BC2, namely I feel BC2 had more destructible environments for the most part, but overall it increases graphical fidelity on the whole.
I have BF3 and Premium (was gifted to me), but don't really play anymore and am not sure I'd even consider buying BF4 at all really. IF I did, it certainly wouldn't be a day 1 release purchase for me again... no thanks. I can't think of a single game in the past few years that really lived up to the hype for a day 1 purchase. All are sent maybe 75% complete with sections removed for 'Day 1 DLC!!!'... BS. Lately, I support indie devs who actually put out creative games. I'm fine trying to melt my system on a tech demo game, but the replayability and enjoyment usually suffer. I fully expect BF4 to be in that same 'I'll melt your computer!' group, but lack everywhere else.

Ummm what? Frostbite 2 was newly built for BF3 and only a couple other games are even using it. It's just barely over 1 year old and they are still learning how to optimize it. BF3 was the first game to use the Frostbite 2 engine so of course BF3 wouldn't be showing off the BEST Frostbite has to offer...hence why they said that BF3 only used about 30% of it's power while BF4 should used around 80%. What do you mean STILL using it.....

Being best in the world has nothing to do with it. Being capable of doing the same job does. She proves women are capable of being on the same level. That is what matters, not being the absolute best. Perhaps if you want to be Special Forces it may matter alot more, but not so much in the regular forces.

And bare in mind there are several military forces who actually have women on the front line. There are also women who actually work on the front line actively. Not every front line role is Infantry.

So regardless of what some people may think about it, it wouldn't bother me to see female avatars in a Battlefield videogame. It certainly isn't such a big deal that the internet needs to blow up about it.

When their major comptetator is CoD i doubt that changing this frequently will be a priority. Plus since Frostbite 2.0 Still brings the average PC to its knees, and can cause lag across both consoles, which means implementing a new engine with higher requirements would be entirely illogical. Also an earlier quote mentions that only 30-40% of the engines potential is used in Frostbite 2.0 therefore we can expect that the potential maximum is distant even on the best rigs that we see even on this website.

I think I remember reading an interview where they said a major goal of FrostBite 2 was to make it scalable (because it is a console engine as well). Logic dictates that if you can scale down, you can scale up biggrin.gif

I think we will see good things from the engine in upcoming titles smile.gif

When you deploy as a female soldier, what bonus capabilities do you get?

Maybe they'll change the "heavy barrel" to "tight barrel" on the female classes?
