So I am playing on the OCN servers and met some nice guy, Cody or something. Anyways he has his mic working and is talking to me, showing me the ropes but I don't know how to communicate back to him. I just plugged my mic in and got it working but how do I chat with people via mic or text?

if you are on steam, check your preferences.

sometimes the game has a seperate voice chat key or something.

Look in your keybinds and you will find it as voice chat or communicate.

Forward slash "/" to chat/type. hit ">" to change channels (direct communication is best). For voice, default is caps lock, but you can change it to something more comfortable. If you want to, get Teamspeak 3 and join us on the teamspeak server! I.P. is 74.91.115.145 Hope to see you on there!

Thanks bro. Yeah I figured it out and changed it. There are so many commands I couldn't find it for a good while lol. Met some other nice guy who gave me a pistol and then his vent info. Later I used that pistol to kill a bandit and took his AK47

I am still lost on making fires and doing other stuff like that etc. I've seemed to kill myself more than the zombies have and I still have no idea what's what. lol

To make a fire, you need a pile of wood and matches!
You right click the Matches and choose make fire place. Then looking at the fire place, you roll your mouse wheel and click when you see "light fire"
Once the fire is alight, you can then roll your mouse wheel and choose cook meat, if you have any raw meat that is

You have to have a Knife to gut, so you can take meat from animals that you kill!

If I was you, I'd go watch some YouTube DayZ videos

Yeah I've been watching videos a lot lately and reading wiki. I've chopped the wood, gutted the animal, and started the fire but it wouldn't let me collect meat. Also I can't equip my axe for some reason.

To collect the meat, push G while looking at the gutted animal, and move the meat over to your inventory!
And to equip Axe, right click it and choose remove from tool belt! Once holding it, push R

The raw meat has to be in your inventory, not your backpack

And look at the bottom left of your screen for it to say "cook meat" as you scroll your mouse. Then left click, or you can click middle mouse!
