Windows 8 black screen after install

Thread Starter
I have just installed Windows 8 Pro on a brand new Vertex 4 and after going through the installation process, it restarts and I think it wants to boot to Windows but... I just get a black screen. I'm at a complete loss. I've re-formatted and tried to reinstall several times. It just hangs at a blank screen. Does anyone know what's up?

Check your BIOS settings for the hard drive mode. AHCI or SATA 6GB should be what your drive is set to.

Go into the boot priority settings in your BIOS and set the first boot priority to "Windows Boot Manager". I have seen this fix a lot of people's problem with the black screen - it's to do with the BIOS not booting into the initial install process.

Failing this, or if you don't have this option in the BIOS, remove all drives (IDE and SATA) from your system EXCEPT the one you want to install Windows 8 on. Perform the install again. This should eliminate any question of the BIOS booting into the wrong drive.

Or I could not be a total ******* idiot and find out that it was actually displaying out to my TV through my HDMI cable. Rather than sending the primary signal through DVI to my monitor, it sent it out over HDMI to my TV that wasn't on.

Thanks for the help guys. Feel free to post facepalm pictures.
