The answer to your question: not likely.

As for you not having a top card, the HD 7970 always held that spot when max overclocked. If Nvidia allowed voltage unlocking, then that could have been a different story.

Didnt Nvidia send an email about beta drivers that promised similar performance boosts to counter AMD's latest drivers? I really didnt pay attention because I don't own a GTX6xx series card but I thought there was some driver tweaks coming soon.
