It's kind of funny that it turned out that it wasn't the original OP's rig, but his dads....

So we were kind of all right to be suspect of him...

I mean come on guys, this is just embarrassing to OCN. A new member has a question. Help him answer it. Not every single builder with a high end system is a part of OCN.
On topic, OP have you tried to OC your CPUs to 4.0+ yet? Tried alternative drivers? Checked compatibility as some games do not support quadfire all that well.

We answered him multiple times in the beginning, then we questioned this PCs existance because he was very suspicious, ended up being correct, then he recruited his posse to start talking trash.

It's not the OP's rig.... He's also apparently triple monitor gaming at 2560x1600 in which case the CPU speed would have little impact due to the cards having plenty of work to do with having to deal with 12 million pixels.

The problem is the board, those NF200 chips and the latency they induce.

I don't care if its his rig or not. Just because he has a lot of questions, may seem confused, and may have a slight language barrier, we should try to answer his question. This thread would be so much more productive if everything in here was on topic.

This all day long.

OP-you have to clock your CPU higher, the stock clocks on Xeons are deliberately low for longer life, you can wring them for 4Ghz and they will run those cards just fine.

Make sure the ram you have has a good OC headroom on them, most of your overclocking will depend on BCLK work and the SR 2 doesnt make it easy.

Hello OP and welcome to OCN smile.gif

From what I have seen most people with quad sli or xfire tend to not keep it that long. Why?? Because most games don't scale well even in tri-fire and once you do benches there really isn't anything else to do with quad GPUs.

I mean, you could try eyefinity with 9 120 hz monitors, or 3 at 1600p but the processing power just isn't really there / doesn't scale well enough. If you want my humble opinion. Take 2 of those 7970s and put them in another rig for your son. 2cents.gif

Thread Starter
@ avenger here again .!!

thanks guys ---no problem some times we all get carried away i guess .

well its not that much of an issue ..the thing is i was expecting to much - its been a while that i was on team red / nvidia for a change does not have these issues . fps in bf3 / warfighter which i mostly play if i get time that is is excellent

ultra at 5760-1600 is quite enough for me , the 580 lacked the vram needed for ultra but they were beasts all write loved the EVGA SC edition .

@ moderator - thanks a lot for the help .

i have over clocked the cpu to 3ghz now - emm strangely nfs most wanted is acting fine now --before it would not budge above 27fps - now its like 45-60-even 70fps but drops are there , i guess its the game not the hardware.

a picture which i had taken earlier ...

Thread cleaned and moderated.

OP's poor choice wording his thread was changed by his request has been reworded to 'low FPS' without changing subject.

Moving forward all I ask please keep personal comments, swearing or use of expletives to suggest profanity out of OCN posts when you reply.

One more try or this thread gets closed.

The problem is the board, those NF200 chips and the latency they induce.

I think you're attributing too much of this to the NF200s. They aren't going to add so much latency that the rig scores the same as it does with one GPU. 4x GPUs with NF200s are still going to score higher than 3x GPUs.

Honestly, I'd write this off to drivers or power delivery. I'm pretty sure that's what it was for us.

EDIT: Oops... Mod powers let me respond when I wasn't supposed to redface.gif

On topic, OP have you tried to OC your CPUs to 4.0+ yet? Tried alternative drivers? Checked compatibility as some games do not support quadfire all that well.

Agreed.

To be fair though, the OC would only really help for the lower res gameplay and benchmarks. At 3x1600p 3.0GHz would probably be sufficient as the cards will be working plenty hard. That being said, more OC the better, lol. I agree though on trying other drivers.

The nf200 chips would not introduce that much though.

Yup...whether it's a troll or not the question is interesting and should be treated as if it's not a troll. It's a fair question and one that isn't all that common.

I am leaning toward this too, however I'm not sure it's solely the drivers as there are plenty of people running 4-way that aren't having that issue, or having raised it anyways. But a different driver is a good, easy place to start.
