[CL] Corsair Announces New Hydro Series H100i and H80i Flagship Liquid CPU Coolers - Page 3

Come on corsair/coolermaster/ give me a good reason to replace my eye sore that is the nh-d14.
Until they can get a good few degree cooler while being as quiet I still see them as pointless.

I would love one tho to make my pc look much "tidier", and less cramped.
Tho unless the stock fans that come with it are just as quiet as the d14.

Right now the d14 is like £50-60 the h100 is £70-80, louder and a few less degree performance with the stock fans.
Buy some really good noctua fans at £15-20 each going to bring you to about £110 for a good silent performing h100.
Double the price of a d14.

i just wonder how would the new H100i would compare to its competition: The (OG) H100, the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme (asetek's version of the 240 rad, OEM name is 570LX), the Cooler Master Eisberg (The modular system, uses Alphacool's ST30 rads and probably their cpu block and LT pump), and the new NZXT Kraken coolers (asetek's 4th gen coolers and they are 140 and 280 rads).

IMO, the only ones to even mention would be the NZXT ones, because they are 140 rads and thus more surface area (more performance or silence), and unless the H100i would make a drastic improvement the Asetek 570LX, which is Asetek's 240 rad (aka TT's one) and it comes without any stickers / labels on the block itself and no fans (thus cheaper).

When I was looking at going water cooling on this rig I thought about snagging an AIO unit and calling it done. Then after much research I started to see tons of issues with them, leaking, crazy pump noise, etc etc....

I just said screw it and did my own loop, having done them before it wasn't that far of a stretch. What you end up with is better performance, for not that much more. The biggest thing for myself though is the fact that if it does leak, it is on me! Oddly enough I find it OK that if my loop leaks and I know it is my fault, then I can't get mad. It was my work that failed! If it was an AIO unit, that is another story....

For alot of people it's the other way around, why run the risk of blaming yourself and it being your fault when you can fall back on a company warranty and blame them.

Sad to say I am kinda in that category, I had the money there to start my custom loop. But terrified I mess it up and something goes wrong, I really don't have the money to go replacing my other parts. So I chickened out and spent the money on a 3d vision kit >_> .

Yes, there are people who are in your shoes. My big issue with that thought was seeing the number of problems with getting those warranty claims paid out, because of their damage. The companies seemed to be moderately quick with wanting to replace their failed equipment, but not the equipment that was damaged by their failure. There were more than enough cases of people battling for MONTHS to get their coverage, that I just said screw it!

But to each their own, we all have that comfort zone, and I will not argue that the first custom water loop is always filled with mass paranoia!
