Just put some on the CPU, spread it out with a foldet piece of paper or with a banking card. Even it out (not too thic) leave .5mm from the sides cleared.
Clean the coolerblock itself.
Push it on, take it off, see if you have the same print on the cooler as you have on the CPU.
If so: mount
If not: add thermal greace on coolblock where u dont have enough, push again, see if print is the same.
Thats how I work. Works good cuz my idle temps are around 22-23°C and under load 4.2Ghz: 58-59°C. with a 3770k
