[CL] Corsair Launches the AX860i, AX760i, AX860 & AX760 80 Plus Platinum PSUs - Page 4

I usually buy whatever is of good quality and is on sale on Newegg, these prices are too much. Newegg's got at least 2 a day that are on sale, I just wait for a good one. Sorry George, but the whole Digital nonsense isn't for me.

way too expensive, and not many set ups need anything over 650w anymore. the top of the line SLI/CF (680/7970) set ups don't require more than 650w. GTX 690 only requires a 650w psu.

as someone posted above why not just grab the older versions, do you really need platinum over gold?

With the new platinum series from both companies those discrepancies are history. For example, I don't see the merit buying the AX760 over this psu right now. The AXx60i models offer something that didn't exist previously in the segment, so that's harder to judge, but the analog models seem to be priced to the point where you'd rather just buy from the competition.

This. I really don't see what performance advantage Corsair's Platinum PSUs will give over the Seasonic Platinum PSUs, especially since Seasonic is pricing theirs exactly where their X series used to be.

I'm still waiting for my fully modular, 450-550W, SFX PSU from either company.

Do these new PSUs work with the Corsair sleeved extension cables? I have a set for the "old" AX 650-850, but haven't bough the power supply yet for an upcoming build in 2013. (got the cables at like 60% off, figured that they wouldn't be so quick to discontinue the whole AX line a month later mad.gif)

Anyone know if those cables work on the current Seasonic X series gold models?

Don't know about the seasonics (though I doubt the cables fit) but George did say that they were using type 3 connectors (I think) for all of their modular power supplies going forward. I believe that's the type the set you bought has.

The old AX 650/750/850 cables are only compatible with those three power supplies.

The old AX1200 cables were only compatible with that unit.

All the new modular power supplies, TXM, HX Gold, AX platinum, and AXi, all use the same connectors.

BTW - if anybody is planning on buying individually sleeved cables for our PSUs check the website frequently this month - lots of insane sales going on, you can get a set very cheap if you keep an eye out.

These are quite expensive, but I'm sure Corsair is still providing an exceptional level of product quality and build. Although I haven't used a Corsair AX series PSU in any of my rigs but I have a friend who has built multiple rigs and servers with these PSU's. Once my raidmax 850w fails I'll definitely be picking one of these up.
