Router help needed.

I currently have this router:


As you can see its source of receiving the internet signal is via the satellite type connection. I was wondering is there a way of using this router to broadcast the internet from an Ethernet wall socket?

I had a look on Google but I'm not sure how I would phrase this.

Like u3b3rg33k said, the picture is a little small to see the details. My guess is that it's a modem/router combo, so your internet connection is going to come from the coaxial ("satellite") wall outlet into the device. You can then transmit this connection out of the ethernet ports on the device. Again, just a first guess.

If you turn it into a Switch only mode then you should be fine. Just turn off DHCP and put a static ip on the. thing so that you can access it remotely.
Note you will lose one of the Ethernet ports though.

But that's only if this router/gateway permits that functionality?

If you check out page 38 for the user guide.
So you would set the LAN IP for something in the 192.168.X.X and the 24 would be the usual subnet.
As for Page 42 just turn off the DHCP Server.

You're basically telling him how to turn it into a switch, and that's only going to help if he doesn't need NAT. Setting private addresses won't do much good - gotta be on the network that you want to talk to - if he only has one IP available, he'll be out of luck.

If you need a gateway device, with NAT and DHCP, I don't think that box will cut it.
