Unique GTX 560 Ti Disassembly and Questions

Hi,

This card is a PNY GTX 560 Ti I ordered for Christmas 2011 with the intention to water cool it as soon as I could. I ordered a reference model (or at least that was the photo they were using to advertise it) and recieved a really weird card which works great but I think could be interesting to "study". It's not every day you get to see a unique GPU thumb.gif

Here are the first shots I ever took of it:

QUESTIONS:

-Is it just me or doesn't that cooling system look very effective ?
-I've got some Ceramique 2 TIM that I use on my CPU. Would it be worth changing my GPU's ?
If so then I'll post pics of the PCB without that "big" bent (I didn't do that btw) heatsink.
-That's a lot of TIM Oo, I'm not even sure I've got enough to replace it, is it normal there's such a mess ?

EDIT:

I've replaced the TIM with Ceramique 2. Probably could've done 3-5 CPU mounts with the amount I needed on the GPU (plus waste that went on the card I used to spread a thin layer).

EDIT:
I've lost 5° playing BF3 (70 instead of 75°)

Sure looks reference to me....only difference I see is, is it 4GB or 2? The ram chips are all on the top of the card, and not like the ref design where they're flipped.

That's a GTX670 too btw. Take off the cooler. It'll say on the chip the model. GK or GF...if its GF, its your weird 560. If its GK then its a 670. Definitely looks like a 670 though...

What tongue.gif ?

All those photos were taken by myself the first almost a year ago when my PC was still 100% OEM (I've still go OEM mobo, CPU and RAM left) that might be what confused you.
So yeah, all those are the same card, my card. A weird PNY GTX 560 Ti 1GB thumb.gif

EDIT: Maybe I should compare my naked PCB to a 670's PCB if you thought it looked like a reference 670. Maybe I could slap a 670 full cover block on it wink.gif. Probably not though.

At first glance it looks pretty close to a 670's PCB, but the RAM chip placement and other things are a bit different so I doubt a 670 block would fit. Here is a reference 670 PCB:

Is it the VRM's that had a silver heatsink on them, behind the core?

Hello dude !

Registered only to say that: i got the EXACT SAME CARD, thus this is the GTX 560 not Ti, but with exactly the same PCB.

I am also looking for a waterblock for it, but the card seems to have a GTX 560 SE PCB rather than a 670 PCB ... That's really weird ! I think the only solution would be to use an universal GPU Waterblock with some heatsinks for RAM + VRMs ...

BTW, good luck searching a waterblock !
