So why not send the information to PayPal rather than leak it on the internet. Now they have put 28,000 people at the mercy of anyone with an internet connection.
So really these guys are the "other hackers", they have exploited it, we are now at risk. Way to go guys.
Because no one does anything about it that way. Most major vulnerabilities you see exploited, the companies knew about them beforehand. The Sony hack, Oracle and the java zero day. It isn't until it becomes public and there is outrage that companies will do something about it. Security costs money, and companies don't want to pay for it.
They might have questionable methods, but they aren't the "other hackers". Anonymous aren't any kind of super hackers. Anything they do, others probably have already done for weeks, months, or even years without anyone knowing. If my information is compromised, I would rather it be publicly known and the issue fixed than people having it quietly for months.
