How much are you looking to spend on a notebook?

thanks for clarifying, it would figure that the 560m is similar in model number to icrap's old gpu. LOL

wow you can buy a killer notebook for that kind of budget.

Tough thing is getting one as thin as you're looking for. Good luck and ask away if you have any more questions

Yeah.. I don't understand why people want such thin notebooks though, if it's worth any considerable amount of money you'll have it in a case which will be just as thick no matter what. You shouldn't be having it on your lap and even if you do it's not the thickness that matters it's more-so the weight.

OP should just get an Ultrabook + Gaming laptop for that budget, he'd then have the best of both worlds.
I always thought my N61JQ (i7 720QM + Radeon 5730M) had good battery life at 2 hours from new, right before I sold it it'd gone down to a bit over an hour. rolleyes.gif

Do you need the long battery life for class and notes or for work?
If its for class the dual laptop option mgiht be suitable.
If its for work and you need the CPU power it would be better to stick with 1 notebook.

Maybe saying an inch was asking too much... something around the thickness of my Alienware m11x would be good i guess. (just googled and its 1.4", i thought it was 1") But yea, mainly just not something thats crazy heavy.
And yea, i want to stick with just one system, not two.

Vaio S15. Got mine OC'd to GTX 660m speeds, runs BF3 at Medium settings at 1080p perfectly. CPU and GPU never exceed 80 degrees C. Laptop costs under $1000.

I have the S13A though, but if I could purchase it again I would go with the S15 due to the IPS display.

When switched to the iGP battery lasts 6 hours.

I second S15, it's pretty close to your requirements. The GPU can be overclocked with a BIOS flash, but it will be a bit limited because it uses DDR3, not GDDR5. The battery is a bit small but not terrible. And you can get a sheet battery if you want to.

iCrap has a larger budget than that, but the sony size wise is a good recommendation....

I personally have never been a fan of sonys computers, theyre expensive, and to be honest the ONLY time ive ever had them in my hands, is when they were broken and people needed help fixing them. But this was years ago now... It still makes me hesitate. How is the construction of the one you have?

Unfortunately most notebooks are going to be of plastic construction. The Sager NP8130/8150 line is all plastic, it doesnt feel cheap (maybe a little compared to my metal bodied m18x) but they arent top of the line build quality either. Not sure about the MSI/Asus I mentioned, i must have overlooked where you said metal construction.

Samsung offers some nice, sleek metal/plastic bodied notebooks, not sure what they pack for hardware, a friend has a 15.6" samsung chronos (maybe) notebook that had a decent amd gpu paired with an i7, caching ssd with the hard drive, his only complaint was the space bar on the keyboard.
