I got my GTX 670 FTW SLI.. THANK YOU OCN! - Page 3

A nice fix for Metro 2033 is to disable Advanced DOF under DX11 settings. It drops your FPS a ton and does very little. See if that's fixes your large dips.

And congrats on your upgrade!

Vram isn't really that much of an issue at 1440p (with very few exceptions such as 8x MSAA in max payne). I don't use it a lot with one card but that's do more to the limited processing power than vram. A lot of the games he is mentioning dips in are not being limited by vram. It's also worth considering what drivers are being used.

this is on 1440p gaming with everything maxed possible. (i have adaptive vsync cause i get tearing). this is SLI.
metro 2033: 40fps average. dips to 10fps frown.gif
bf3: 60fps average. dips probably to 55fps.
borderlands 2: 60fps average. saw it dip to 35fps?? (during 4 player online game at the preservation with everyone spamming shots)
crysis 1: 4xMSAA only, 8x wont play... 55fps average. dips to 30fps.
guild wars 2: 60fps average. dips to around 40fps.
black ops 2: 60fps average. never really dips that much.
cs:go, league of legends, minecraft.... well haha 60fps flat all the time everytime tongue.gif
do these numbers seem normal? i know some of these games are heavily unoptimized.. but it still seems kinda weird to me for SLI.. or is it that 1440p really just pushes everything?

Overclocking the CPU may help get a little more performance in some of those games if your haven't already. ...Of course overclocking GPUs is must also.

i had my gpu's overclocked at 1200 and 1250 respectively. and mem at +400.. and i didnt see any performance increase besides heaven benchmark.

i have no idea how to OC my cpu so lol. biggrin.gif

with 670's SLI your probably being held back by the CPU especially if you BF3... Lots of great info on here for overclocking the CPU. You should notice an almost 1:1 ratio of core clock to fps overclock over stock increase in performance. So lets say you have a 20% overclock on the GPU, you should notice a 20% increase in performance, you also have to overclock the memory just as much there too.
www.techpowerup.com has some great overclocking material for the 670's. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/31.html

I would say for SLI you need a minimum of 4GHz on the CPU to not hold u back...
