To play against other Origin players, you must have the free version downloaded I guess.

It says you cannot play disk vs origin. To be honest, it's not that much of an issue anyway.

What they really mean...

Because all of you hate Origin and aren't that crazy about BF3 either, we are giving away Battlefield 1942 for free! Relive it if you’re an old-time fan. Please stay with us for a little longer or at least until we release BC3 or BF4, because they will definitely be fun games, we promise. See where it all started if you’re new to the series. Download Battlefield 1942 now: http://origin.com/demos, or go ahead and play BF2 again, because we want you to remember how great our games once were.

It seems as though they feel people haven't been getting enough free games recently lol.

I changed files 'video.con' &' videocustom.con' located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Default

For FOV, 'VideoDefault.con' is located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings
