Help me :-( BSODs and freezing

Thread Starter
Okay so here's the story so far. My computer has been crashing and giving me BSOD's. The BSOD's were SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION. Sent the motherboard back but that was tested and found not to be at fault. So leaves psu, gpu, memory, CPU.

Going to reseat the CPU heatsink with done paste that I've ordered since had to separate it from the heatsink.

Tried putting in the memory one at a time and with it have the BSOD. However, with the other I was able to play a few minutes of FIFA before it just froze and there was a noise from speakers. This may be since there was no paste between CPU and heatsink so not going to use it until I get some paste tomorrow.

So dunno what to do guys :-(

Hardware:
MSI 770-C45
CPU AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE
Corsair vengeance 2x2GB
OCZ power stream 500Watts
GTX 460 EVGA
HDD

Will add photos in a bit... biggrin.gif

What type of CPU are u using my ask..?

If there was no paste then the CPU will heat up and cause problems. Wait till you get and apply the TIM and see if computer still BSODs.

Well, I hope that if you have something wrong that it's the memory, since it's the cheapest and easiest to replace.

Once you put thermal paste on the cpu try running memtest to check the memory.
Sounds like a cpu problem. and am not talking about when you were using your cpu with out thermal paste. But we'll know for sure when you get that thermal paste in.

I'd be looking at updating all the drivers before declaring a hardware fault. Just my 2cents.gif

Are you overclocked at all? If so reset to Manuf. settings and retest. But for sure don't run the computer without TIM. I would also check the drivers as stated by K62-RIG.
