Sure the cheaper Android tablets (Nexus 7 for example) don't compare to Apple in build quality but then again they are much less expensive.
Didn't I just read an article that was linked here about how Apple uses glue to assemble the IPad Mini? rolleyes.gif
Every time I hear the Apple has better apps comment, I wonder who exactly decided this. I haven't yet found a need for one of my Android tablets that could not be fulfilled with an Android app. Sure there are more Apple apps to choose from but I am still waiting to see where they are better. Quantity does not equal better quality.
For example, try finding a good ereader app on the Apple. Their IBooks is average (at best). Stanza is so so and hasn't had an update in almost a year. On the Android side, Coolreader (which grabs series metadata), Aldiko, etc. And there are about 10 more great reading apps. For video playback, try playing an mkv file with an IPad without buying an app for it. Better yet, try putting video or books on the IPad without using ITunes as a hosting mechanism...

Actually, this is not really the case anymore. There are ~675,000 Android apps to ~700,000 Apple apps. This is excluding other App stores for Android of course.

There is a huge difference between an app designed for use on a smartphone and the same app designed for a tablet though. The majority of Android apps are scaled up phone versions vs Apples 275,000 designed specifically for the iPad.

Quality of the tablet itself or the quality of Android vs iOS?

I find iOS to be lacking when used on a device larger than an iPhone. Then quality of the device itself is subject to the actual model. (On the android side)

Eh. As a whole, the tablet market has gotten larger. In terms of volume, Apple has probably stayed the same or maybe even sold more but with more choices available to consumers, their dominance in the market may not be as apparent but I wouldn't rule them out just yet.

Would have been great to get that on the Nexus 7/10.

True multitasking?? Have you seen the Microsoft Surface at work??

I don't think this is anything more than consumers holding off the iPad because of the rumours of the mini, as well as the 'refreshed iPad 4'. Next quarter they might take a fair bit back. We'll see.

They work just fine.

All of them? Plastic vs aluminum isnt much of a competition.

And a Ford Pinto works just fine too but that doesn't mean i wouldn't i rather drive a Corvette or Ferrari given the option. Until Google creates a separate tablet section for apps on Google Play and pushes devs into developing two separate versions for tablets and phones then Apple's apps on the iPad will remain superior.
