Posting this for those that believed that the Nexus 7, Note 10.1, Transformer Prime, and other Android high performing tablets weren't going to work. For those that swear Android users are "cheap" and don't buy into expensive tablets. rolleyes.gif

Also proves that those who complain about Apple pricing are absolute hypocrites. rolleyes.gif

Two sides to every coin, good sir.

How so? The iPad is still $100 more; however it's not Apple's pricing alone that I "complain" (disapprove) of. I simply oppose any such tightly locked down software thumb.gif

Any computer can slow down when overloaded. The ipad is just not doing anything more often.

But then it still provides the better experience for the most right? Or is android web browsing lag only really happens when you have something open (multitasking) and people just don't know how to close back ground stuff?

I keep hearing iOS doesn't have true multitasking so is that the reason why their browsing is much smoother?

I'll chime in and say Android has notoriously had that choppy experience on phones that predate the dual core processor phones. Beyond that I have to disagree. The S3 and even the year old Galaxy Nexus run flawlessly smooth. When I'm using my Nexus (mine personally is overclocked) for an extended period and have 5 or more tabs open in Chrome, Google Talk, and GOSMS and I'm switching back and forth between them, it feels like I am using a desktop. The only times I ever really feel any choppiness is if I have multiple (I'm talking more than 3) apps updating via Play Store at the same time. I think Google should look into doing something to help with that such as maybe limiting it to 3 apps being updated at a time, at least when CPU load is past a certain level. I've experienced it on every Android.

Would have been great to get that on the Nexus 7/10.

Multi tasking on mobile devices such as tablet or smartphone are all marketing bs

It kills battery life faster which most device already have very short on screen time

It hogs resources and some programs would run slower.

The screen real estate and input is not viable for "true multi tasking"

Try opening a video player and keep it on background while browsing internet.

Android virtual keyboard alone cover almost half of the screen.

Android tablets win in price, not quality.

You sure? Because a single drop from an iPad 1-3 (don't know about 4, yet) makes the device unusable. Doesn't sound like quality to me.

Exactly. If you consider "sleek design" a feature, that's fine, but you're not paying for durability, that's for sure. iDevices are some of the most prone to damage when dropped. It may feel good in the hand, but it does not like drops from any height.

.. But I feel like 3 months old is already "old".. might as well wait for their next offering.. and maybe the prices for the Nex 7 might go lower too by that time xD
Also interested in a warranty service lol.

The Nexus 7 lineup just got a small refresh and price bump (went from $199 8GB and $249 16GB to $199 16GB, $249 32GB, and $299 32GB + mobile 3G data.) so I wouldn't call it old yet. In fact, I just got the 32GB Wifi model for my wife last week, and I have been unable to pry it from her hands since then. She loves the thing to death! I have a feeling that if I had given her an iPad Mini and a Nexus 7 to compare, she would have chosen the Nexus hands down. Again, I am not saying the iPad mini is a bad device, but after my experience with both, it's hard to believe that anyone could justify the $180 price bump going from a 32GB Nex 7 to a 32GB iPad Mini. It just doesn't make sense.

I don't know about you, but switching between tasks on the Nexus 7 is easier than it is on some desktop operating systems. A lot of new android devices coming down the line have quad core processors now, so true multi-tasking is very possible. There probably is some drain on battery life, but any system that has multiple CPU cores and uses them simultaneously will see power usage spike. That's not a tablet specific area.

As far as the Note 10.1 goes, I couldn't disagree with you more. It has a 7,000mAh battery and bit.com benchmarked it with a looping video test; it lasted 9 hours with the brightness set halfway. The Note 10.1 is a very nice experience even with its 2GB of RAM filled up.

..? With the ever expanding Nexus line getting direct updates from Google, Android is "catching up." Google is playing it smart. Different manufacturers with different device lines are being allowed the Nexus title and all it brings with it. Basically telling manufacturers/carriers to hop aboard or stuff it....slowly chipping away at Apple's main argument against Android: Fragmentation. Jelly Bean is here to stay. Android is maturing. Solidifying.

I'm in the same boat. We held off on getting a second Nexus 7 because the rumors of the N10 sounded so good to me. Now...gonna take some really good reviews to get me to buy one over a discounted TF300 or something.

Good to see the competition revving up in the tablet sector.

This is a good thing. Whether you are Android or Apple, either way, the consumers end up winning when this happens.

Or you could download sections of map with Google Maps and use GPS that way. The functionality for that kind of stuff is built in, no need to pay for/install something else.

That is a bad thing. It signifies apple stalling out. There should be a reason, whatever it is, to make you want to upgrade, or apple isn't doing their job right.

The only reason android users want to upgrade every 3 months is because things actually progress far enough to want to in that time frame.
