Steelseries Sensei Raw vs Razer Deathadder

Hey everyone, like so many others im here to hear some interesting thoughts and some advice on what to get smile.gif
So, im a CSS player (also some rts games like sc2 sometimes on pretty high level), and im searching for a new mouse. Im coming from a roccat kone +, a really nice mouse imo which suits perfectly to my fingertip grippy style, has a nice feeling and a good sensor. but i got the mousewheel bug and its already 3 years old and generally a bit too overused biggrin.gif

I read a lot of stuff on mousesettings, tracking tests, reviews etc etc and Ive now came to the conclusion that the deathadder or sensei raw would be nice (also thought about the g500, but i dont like the way it feels in my hands, just doesnt suit too good), and ive also tried them both out in a local store, and they feel good in my hands (althoug the sensei is even much better, so grip wise its my favourite).

I know the deathadder has a great sensor, but i heard that the quality isnt the best and it gets some click syndroms sometimes or other stuff, and the sensei has like some 5% positive acceleration on quick flick shots movements.

So my question is: can someone confirm the acceleration of the sensei raw and if yes, is it really bad and noticeable when playing css/fps games? without this i think i would immediately buy this mouse, but the acceleration kinda bothers me... the razer seems to have no accel at all (especially at 1.8k dpi), so the sensor shouldnt be the problem there. but i would prefer the sensei raw over the da, if the accel isnt too bad, otherwise i would still be happy with the da biggrin.gif

so anyone tried both and can give me some information on how they track etc? and pls no comments like "deathadder ftw" or such stuff, i know there are some da fanatics out there, but such comments simply dont help me wink.gif

thx for reading all my bullsh**** and helping me out smile.gif

every help greatly appreciated.

Well if you want a mouse that works and isn't flawed you are left with very limited choices. Every mouse has its own flaws but I would never go with a mouse that uses an inferior sensor with hardware level accel or other issues.

With that said I am currently using a DA Black Edition myself at the moment. However I am waiting for CM's new Recon mouse to get to my house so I can test it out and see if it will replace my DA. The DA has definitely served me well and its sensor is pretty close to immaculate, however it wasn't without its flaws either. My DA has a buggy scroll wheel that moves up when I scroll down and down when I scroll up at times.

I would look into checking out CM's new recon. It is using the Avago 3090 which is basically the best sensor on the market right now for gaming period. They apparently have some immature drivers that are buggy but CM has a very active dev team so once it's sorted out it should be one of the best mice on the market.

Take a look, I bought one in conjunction with the CM skorpion and CM speed RX mouse pad, I am going to do a full review and post on OC once it gets here in a few days biggrin.gif

The sensei is garbage, I wouldn't use that thing even if sponsors paid me too. The sensor has hardware level accel and has no place being called a 'gaming' mouse.

If you want reliable consistent performance these days you should go for (imo):

  • Deathadder
  • Logitech G400
  • Alot of the mice using the Avago ADNS-3090 (CM Spawn, New Zowie mice, Roccat Savu, ...)

Hm, my roccat kone+ has the same mouse wheel issue, which is one of the reasons i want to change it^^ so maybe it wouldnt be too smart to replace it with a mouse that eventually gets the same problem biggrin.gif
i never heard about cm mice though. will be nice to read ur review then soon smile.gif

so is the accel on the sensei really that bad? if yes im pretty much stuck to the deathadder or maybe go have another look to the g500 (the g400s grip is somehow even worse for my hand than the g500).

thx for ur answers.

Actually G500 Kone+ and Sensei use the same Sensor, i dont know which mice you used before the Kone, i would order at a shop with good return policy and see what fits you best and if you even notice the difference between ADNS-3888 and 9500 mice, if not choose whats most comfortable to you.

For some yes. I switched from a Xai to the Zowie AM because of it.

haha, if they really have the same sensor its kinda weird biggrin.gif
i personally have done tests with my kone+ on acceleration, looking if i end up at the same spot swiping from my left to the right of my mousepad slowly and then really fast, and i always ended up pretty much at the same place. so i dont even think it has noticeable accel. i ready nearly everywhere about the accel of the sensei (even steelseries talked about it i think), but ive never read about the fact that the g500 has like 5% accel. just read that the g500 and deathadder would be the 2 most used mice for high level css players, so it would be kinda weird to tell that the sensei would be that bad but go with a g500 biggrin.gif

G500 was hands down the biggest disappointment ever .
It felt cheap, sensor is placed at the front, mousewheel is crap, the LOD is horrible (jitters all over the place) and I often clicked when I put it down again ... has never happened with any other mouse I had.

Mouse I had before was a roccat Kone: overpriced . Not bad but overpriced. Died after +/- 3 years? Not bad smile.gif

Now I'm using a DA BE. Couldn't be happier with it really (that's a lie, would love it more if it made me breakfast ...). It clicks good, side buttons are also very nice and big. Scroll wheel is rough but I like that and the BE just has this subtle class to it. Overall, this thing feels so much better built than a G500 (notice the part where the cable enters the mouse)
For me personally, because I have small hands, it might have been better if it was a tad smaller but really, you get used to any decent shaped mouse after a while.
And for all I care they could have left out the braided cable. Absolutely no idea why they all started using those? So they can sell mouse bungees to kids who need to blame something? rolleyes.gif

Never had a steelseries mouse so I can't say anything good or bad about them. I do love their Qck mouse mats. Solid mats for their price and easily washable. thumb.gif

EDIT: Not attacking you but mind showing some proof where the G500 is used by high level CSS players? I seriously doubt that after trying it out. It's probably one of the most used mice out there yes, but not among people who are serious about their peripherals tongue.gif (more the people who say: oooh lights, ooooh laser, ooooh weights etc. )

EDIT2: Oh yeah, the DA works perfect without a driver @ 1800 dpi natively. So if you game at that DPI and don't need to reconfigure the buttons then you can run driverless perfectly fine wink.gif

Oh yeah, so it wasnt only me who that feeling with the g500. i actually went to a local store where i could try the mouse out and hold it in my hands and stuff, and it felt really cheap and awkward to me, but i thought its because so many thousand people already had used it there and the ones completely new in boxes would be better. so my thoughts didnt trick me there. and getting deeper and deeper in the mouse theory i now also think its crap that many cs pros use the g500, think my sources were kinda off on this wink.gif

and yeah, im using my roccat on 1800 dpi anyways, so the deathadder would be quite nice for me, but i think because i really like the feeling of ambidextrious mouses like the sensei in my hands i will try the zowie am.

thx guys for ur help smile.gif

hey, didnt want to make up a new thread for this question:
does anyone know a tool where u can measure the tracking speed ur moving ur mouse at? so i want to know at which speed my fastest swipes are i will do with my mouse (like 3m/s or something like that).
would be nice if someone could tell me some tool/prog like that.
thx smile.gif
