Where to get Thermal Pads Locally?

So i've been running my primary 7970 under a sapphire Dual-X cooler that was given to me by a friend, but recently ive been comparing it to the stock shroud and found it was actually getting worse temperatures than my secondary card which still had the stock shroud on it.

So I went ahead and pulled the cooler off today, and was almost finished putting the old one on when i checked and saw that the VRM thermal pad was not contacting the shroud. I tried to pull it off to see if i could un-squish it and it basically disintegrated.

There is no Fry's or anything like a Microcenter in town, and i doubt the local pc shops would have what i need. So i need to ask if anyone here knows whether something like a Hardware store would carry a thermal pad that i could use. i will continue to look at other options but i wasnt planning on having this card out of my PC for a week while i wait for a new pad in the mail.

Thanks in advance.

Most likely wont have any luck finding those locally. Best to just order online and wait.

I never seen anything even close to a thermal pad in any hardware store. Most often people want insulating materials.

You could try some PC shops...one might accidentally have some.

If you do order it...order extra and have it around. I always have some around the house.

thanks for the responses guys, i was kinda hoping not to have to order online, as id have to wait. afaik there is only one shop even close to me that might have a remote chance of carrying thermal pads. there was a store in the next town over that might too, but i have no idea if it is even in business right now....

Ok so i know im going to need to get a whole set of pads when i put the card under water, as the vram ones are pretty much toast too. i was able to put some Tim on the VRM and it works ok (better than before where my VRM was over 90C, now its only hitting 60C)
So i gotta figure out what thickness i need. im thinking .5mm for the vram and 1mm for the vrm? anyone know what they should be?

I have water cooled a 7970 a couple times and I was able to use the 1mm pads for it. I just keep some 1mm padding around since if I needed the 2mm think stuff I can stack it...which won't work as well, but it is rare you need it that thick...and if you do the part would be running hotter anyway. On applications where .5mm is need the 1mm can get compressed enough to do the job and again...I think this is a rare occurrence (plus at that thin you can usually use thermal paste).

Though what you need will depend on the cooler...the stock cooler I am almost certain will be 1mm. I'd use thermal paste on the actual GPU though.
