I am upgrading my SSD for my sig rig so the wee little 60GB SSD can find its way into my laptop, but I was wondering for all around OS usage Gaming, virtualization, and some video editing which one of these would be better preforming for me?

I'd go for the samsung 830!
But I'd go for two 128GB ones myself, one for the OS and apps, and one for games smile.gif

hmmmm, I may just go with two of the 128GB versions, because I only have 35GB in games, then I could use my Corsair Force GT for games, one 128 for os and apps and another 128 for my lappy... hmmm oh the options...

That does sound like a plan smile.gif
But you might not see any difference between the Sammy and the Corsair Force GT in your laptop!
I'm thinking the laptop might be the slowest link!
But I might be wrong biggrin.gif

But either way, I would go with two drives!
The OS drive would be doing nothing but running the OS! Doing lots of reads and writes.
But it wouldn't mater, because the OS drive would have lots of room to spread the ware across the SSD blocks!

And the games SSD!
Games must run better from a drive that is doing nothing but running the game smile.gif
And games drives do very little writes, so you could almost fill the games SSD. And not think twice about ware to the drive!

My drives smile.gif
I use Steam Mover to manage my games drives. There's a link in my Sig!

I looked at their site, and they are asking 1.25 per gig, I think i can live with a 830 series for the price difference... unless newegg has it for like 20% less on launch

The Samsung 830 is really all you need, ever since I bought mine it's been rock solid problem free! If you want something closer in performance to the Vertex 4 and have money to burn get the 840 Pro, 5 year warranty on those suckers!

I'd get the 830, much more reliable than OCZ, i doubt youll notice the difference in speed unless your benchmarking stuff, real-world theyll be pretty much identical.
But i agree with Systemlord, if you want Vertex4 speed just get a 840. samsung make nice, reliable drives.

I used to approach it that way, but I always ended up running short on one, while having plenty of room on the other. These days I just combine both drives in RAID0. I was able to find the Samsung 830 128GB's on sale for $70 apiece, so I basically have a blazing fast 256GB volume, where neither my OS nor games areas run short.
