Hi,
I finally decided on going with the fx 8350 over the i5 3570k and then found that the sabertooth rev 2 is the am3+ motherboard i prefer. My question is will my ram be compatible? It's Kingston HyperX T1 series 4gb ddr3 1600 (PC3 12800) or KHX1600C9D3T1K2/8GX. I bought 4 of these sticks for 16gb of ram ( i know, overkill) because i could get them for $44 total which I thought was a steal. Either way....will this ram work in the sabertooth rev 2?
I had already read up as much as i can on 1.65v ram with intel and though it's not recommended by intel, MANY users do it and to no ill effect. I also read that the ram often just defaults to 1333mhz speed and downvolts to 1.5v so you have to go into the bios to switch it to 1600mhz and 1.65v. I'd honestly be ok with either, I bought this ram cause it was the cheapest
I just want to make sure I don't fry my new motherboard or piledriver chip because of the voltage being too high on my ram. That would be a costly mistake.
I do not plan to overclock my ram, but i will probably overclock the cpu after a few months or a year
Thanks for the help!
edit: lastly i did want to say that i already went to the asus website and looked up the support pdf on this mobo and it doesn't have this kingston listed. mainly because it only listed 1333mhz ram that it supports.
