is it a media folder try disabling thumbnail view now change it to details or other view ? may its trying to create thumbnails for all the files

I dont know if its a bug or a feature! Windows search hardly is successful in searching anything i type, never had this problem on win 7! confused.gif
Dont want to go back to win 7 again, win 8 feels faster(boot time, less mem usage) I wonder if anyone on ocn is facing this problem too! Also a question regarding drivers, all the drivers i have(audio, network, etc) except gpu are of win 7, they installed fine but are win 8's drivers different? I cant find them on gigabyte's website atm. mad.gif

I would say the more likely cause is you are using a 7200RPM HDD and not a SSD for your OS....

I Have a 2TB 7200RPM HDD for games install in my PC and when accessing it it will do the same thing but with around 3-5 seconds of halt, then it runs fine.

To test yours, open up[ a directly on that drive, wait your 30 seconds, go back and then go back into the directory, its its fast then its hibernating or power saving or something along those lines.

If not you have a problem.

My Western Digital Caviar Black kept making this noise as if it started to read or write heavily in both Win 7 and Win 8. I found out disabling or changing the superfetch options to boot files only prevented the heavy reading during access of random folders (actually speeding up my drive because it no longer stalled.) It did it to both my main C Drive and my storage drive (also a WD Caviar Black.)
