2700k not enough for borderlands 2?

Thread Starter
I'm running borderlands 2 on my sig rig, and my fps is dipping down as far as 40 and 35 in some areas. My gpu usage seems to be topping out at around 80%, so i'm guessing that my processor is the issue.

Thoughts?

What are all your in-game settings?
Check this out:
http://www.techspot.com/review/577-borderlands-2-performance/page3.html

And its definitely not your CPU.
graphcpubl2.jpg
Source: Techspot

Maybe a driver issue or some instability with hardware....I was gonna say VRAM might be a bottleneck but it shouldn't be at 1080p.
Is your GPU overclocked?
Got the latest drivers?

Well I cant say much because I have not played the game yet but looking at this web site you beat the recommended requirements and I don't think a i7 2700k would not be enough but maybe we could get someones opinion who has the game.

Everything's clocked at stock speeds. All settings are maxed, running at 1920x1080.

My CPU at 4.5Ghz still drops below 60 in this game! It is too heavy on the CPU in certain areas when using a high distance. Reduce the distance setting in options. I forget the exact name of the option.

If the dips are in Thousand Cuts, or during huge fights with PhysX on high, I'm not surprised at all.

Borderlands 2 also seems to have issues with framerate dips by itself. It isn't necessarily a CPU bottleneck.

I think a temporary solution was to set PhysX to Low. The 310.33 beta drivers were supposed to include a fix, along with a Borderlands 2 patch released the same day, but it didn't really work for me.

Yeah, this is with physx on high, as previously mentioned.

Also, just updated my sig rig with the parts I installed this past weekend.
