I have a question about the Samsung Series 9 specifically the 13 inch version. Is the SSD upgradable? I heard someone said the battery is built in and that kinda worried me weather it is possible to even open the bottom of the laptop to get access into the SSD?

I honestly love this cooler, but I think I'm gonna move on to another one soon, it just looks... A bit to bland compared to other flaming red (literally) coolers on the market.

On the 13.3" Samsung Series 9, the battery and SSD are both replaceable (by removing the entire bottom of the chassis). The SSD is the mSATA form factor, which somewhat limits your upgrade options. In addition, the RAM is not upgradeable - is 4 GB going to be enough for your planned usage?

I guess 4gb is going to have to do, I'm only going to be doing mild photo editing via lightroom. I just hope the memory is fast enough. Would you know if the monitor on the Series 9 is comparable to the Macbook Retina?

I don't have any personal experience with the MacBook line but, based on the published specs, the 13" MacBook Pro with Retina has a significantly better display than the Samsung Series 9. The 13" MacBook has a display resolution of 2560 x 1600 whereas the Series 9 has a display resolution of 1600 x 900. That's 4 million pixels vs. just 1.4 million.

I have a S9 and I can confirm the Battery and SSD can be removed. This is very easy to do by removing the rear cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. Like it was mentioned above the SSD is mSATA, but there are a few options for mSATA drives. The Samsung PM830 is a good option, as well as the Corsair M4 mSATA. I wanted a Samsung drive to replace my original one, but couldn't find the PM830 so I settled for the M4 and it has been a wonderful upgrade.
The screen is still fantastic, it is matte and has a higher resolution than most laptops(minus the new MBP/w Retina), and it has a fantastic brightness of 400nits. I can use this laptop in the bright sun with no issues at all thanks to the combination of Brightness and Matte Display.
Plus the new Ivybridge update makes a huge difference in performance, when compared to the original Sandybridge ULV.

They will be upgrading the Series 9 line to have 1440p screens. They teased it at that show in Barcelona in late September I think
