3570k Temp problems - Page 4

Hey guys, Thanks for all the input. But i sent out my CPU for RMA today.

Now, While the disparity in temps is certainly questionable, and that CPU's are generally one of the most reliable parts on a PC, I sent it in for these two reasons.

1. This was not an ongoing problem. I've monitored my temp closely after going to a preset overclock setting. Before the problems, my cpu would idle at about 25c, 65c under full load as indicated by prime95+realtemp. The problem started when i was playing assassins creed brotherhood, the game's framerate started dropping quite a bit, and suddenly, the screen locked up, and i had to hard reset to reboot the computer. Booted it up again, post test indicated a temp error, went into the bios, and it was idling at 90c, I touched the pump and they were pretty warm, as was the radiator. I turned it off for awhile, and went back later to rrun more tests, the temp had decreased and went down to about 50c, and after awhile of just idling, the radiator was cool. and so were the pumps. i ran a torture test, and it shot back up again, on realtemp to 105c, i installed the asus manager to make teaks and lower the voltage, but it didn't help. i started monitoring with both real temp and asus suite. and every time i run a torture test, while the asus manager slowly climbs up from the 50c, the real temp gives a much faster reading of 100-105 across all cores.

2. I installed the stock fan using an underclocked setting with less voltage and got the very same temp readouts durning a test. I checked the H80 up and down, I pressed it down with my thumb while it was doing the tests to see if perhaps it was mounted wrong, and not sitting right on the CPU, no change in temps what so ever.

I'll let you guys know when i get my CPU back in 10 days or so. But yeah, i know cpu's dont fail often, here's to praying.

**Update**

Just got my CPU back from RMA, Set it up with the stock fan, Since while my CPU was away i sent my watercooler away too due to me finding a leak with the coolant.

I'm pretty sure there was no leak while it was running durning the 90+c temps, But non the less it's in the works, I also was getting temps of 105c with the stock cooler on an underclocked setting, so go figure.

The results are everything is normal. My machine is running at 3.4ghz, prime 95 30 min test shows a top out of 75c with the stock cooler at 3.5ghz for 30 mins which i think is pretty normal for the stock cooler. Seems like my cpu malfunctioned. Thanks for the help everyone, i guess from time to time CPU's do go faulty.
