I know I used to get dry ice from local chicken plants. They give it away for free. Not sure if there is chicken plants in michigan though tongue.gif

This is Upper Michigan. God's Country and no one lives up here. Theres no Airgas in town or I would have went there. None of the major grocery stores are here or there would have been a Mejier and they would have had it. Walmart doesnt have it. We dont have industry where I am so thats out. I will try the last two local grocery stores and then look for butchers. If that doesnt pan out I guess I'll look around back home in Wisconsin and try and figure out how to transport it 3+ hours. Thanks for the suggestions everybody and keep them coming and I will keep looking.

Transporting dry ice is easy. Put it in a cooler. You'll barely lose anything in 3 hours.

I buy mine from a spot that only sells and distributes dice. I get the "scraps" . I found this place using that dryicedirectory site.

This is $5 worth of dice. Was about 39lbs iirc.

You guys in the US are lucky, can get ln2 at a welding shop, can get DICE at grocery stores, butcher shops & ice cream places.
Here the only places to get such things are at distributors.

This is $5 worth of dice. Was about 39lbs iirc.

I can get it for something like $0.35/lb at a local distributor (about a 20 mile drive), or pay $0.79/lb at the supermarket 10 minutes away from my house... I usually just pay the premium and save $ on gas.
