EK copper shim for 7970

How inefficient is using the shim? Anyone have an idea of how many C hotter an aftermarket cooler would run using the shim versus if the cooler was directly on the die.

I don't think it's impeded gpu only blocks much.

Yeah I saw that article and also saw people posting awesome temps around 50s for using an antec620 on their 7970 cards.

Anyway I just went ahead and ordered the shim to use with my shaman cooler.
