Tablet Display Comparisons: Nexus 10 vs iPad 4 vs Nexus 7

Thread Starter
Here's a good comparison between the displays of the Nexus 10, iPad 4 and Nexus 7.

The Nexus 10 clearly has the sharpest image with the best color quality.

Nexus 10 uses PLS display technology
iPad 4 uses IPS display technology
Nexus 7 uses IPS display technology

Which is why the Samsung Tab 2 7" with it's PLS screen has better color resolution and contrast than the Nexus 7. It might be slower but has better features and looks better for video playback. I had the two side by side and it was clear which was better.

Reference?

Saying that the iPad 4 has intermediate colour accuracy sounds suspect to me. It has full sRGB coverage... saying that the Nexus 10 has surpassed that... doesn't sound right.

Coverage doesn't mean it's calibrated correctly. Even with calibration panels can still fall within 90%+ coverage rather than 100%. Even most run of the mill TN panels these days are rated for 100% sRGB. Also, 72% = 100% sRGB coverage, so color coverage isn't limited to sRGB.

I'm quite happy with the Nexus 7 display. It's very crisp. Colors don't "pop" like they do on an AMOLED screen, but the images look great.
