Steamroller ? AM3+ ?

Thread Starter
Hello everyone, so i remember i few months back looking at a graph type chart showing steamroller would be release around 2013, is that true ? Also would it be supporting AM3+ boards ?

At the moment got a gigabyte 990-fxa board, if the AM3+ boards isnt going to support steamroller then im switching to inlet ( something i should of done along time ago ), save money for the DDR4 Mobos tongue.gif.

thanks for reading !

I wouldn't wait. Might as well go ahead and switch to Intel. AMD hasn't done anything to keep your business.

Who are you to offer advice on something you obviously have very little-to no knowledge about?

Steamroller will be compatible with AM3+ Boards assuming that the manufacturers release the bios update to support it. But it will drop right in. thumb.gif

O'rly?

Not saying its the better chip, it gets beat by Intel in other benchmarks, but the 8350 and 3770K trade blows. Not bad for a chip that costs half of what Intel charges. I would say that warrants my business just fine.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284 $220

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116502 $300

that isnt half as much. tongue.gif but buying a new intel board would make an 8350 half as much in the end...

do you know what he is planning on using his pc for ? if its 7zip and benches or encoding video, sure.

*EDIT* i still want to see overclocked vs overclocked benches

Touche, vishera prices went up a tad this past week. redface.gif

80 Bucks is still a huge gap IMO, combine that with the price of a good AMD board vs a good Intel board price gap is even further.

Plus it not just benchmarks that use 6+ cores. New games on the horizon use 6 and 8 cores. That combines with the fact vishera clocks as high or higher than Ivy, and thats a winning combo.

My point was to combat him saying AMD has done nothing to warrant your business. Thats a pretty bad statement.
