Does faster ram really make a difference? - Page 2

I wonder what's the bottleneck that causes faster RAM to have no effect.

So does RAM frequency actually has an effect on memory bandwidth?

It would be funny if we would have to go to 128-bit CPUs in X years because the RAM would start holding everything back.

It would be nice to see more user reviews comparing the 2 though. If only there were a few out there that had ddr3 1600 and ddr3 2133 and higher to do some comparisons...

I did notice quicker startup and improved responsiveness going from 1333 to 1600 on an AMD platform, programs opened much more quickly.

Thanks for your personal experience.

I didn't notice really "faster" experiences when I went from 800 DDR2 to 1600 DDR3, just ...smoother i guess. Like, the amount of programs, and how easily I could alt tab between heavy games and multiple tab browsers and programs was much more smoother.
