Will ASUS VG278H and VG 278HE work with 3D Vision Surround 3D? - Page 2

Emett, that's what we were trying to clarify. Because according to ASUS (the make) the model is the VG278. So technicially the H and HE are the same model. Which is why we were looking for information before we spent more money then we needed to.

My gut feeling is that the VG278H and the VG278HE are different models. Regardless of what some one at Asus has told you. While yes there may be a 1 in 100 chance it might work are you willing to risk that on 2 $600 monitors?
The reason you can't get a straight answer is because no one has taken the risk. I know I didn't, I was in the exact same situation as you.

*edit*
Here is the VG278HE EDID inf and it's listed as VG278HE not VG278H

Yea, I'm probably going to just go with the H. If I could find the HE locally I would try it. Could always exchange it if it didn't work. Thx for the feedback.

My store said I could exchange it if it didn't work but I thought whats the point. Anyway I the EDID confirms they are different models.

Remember to join the surround and 3d surround clubs when you get them. Lots of helpfull people in the know in those threads.

Do you have the link for the surround club? I'm already running normal surround using my old monitors.

i already had an ASUS VG278H from back in august and i finally found the money to upgrade to surround and purchased another 2 monitors. But the 2 new monitors come up as VG278HR - instead of VG278H (no "R"). Will this be a problem? i understand that having one monitor connected to the HDMI port will stop me from running 1080p 3d surround because of the HDMI bandwidth. I still have another GTX 680 coming in the mail to help boost FPS and so i can use another DVI-D but at the moment BF3 runs beautiful in 2d in surround.

.

Your 680 has 2 dual link dvi outputs and you can run an adapter from the DP to dual link dvi. So really there should be nothing stoping you running surround 3d now, as long as they are the same monitors. But yeah a second will be needed for 3d and surround to boost fps.
When you say they come up as vg278hr were do you mean? On the receipt?
Also if you haven't already get that CPU overclocked.

Enjoy.

That's the big question that we don't have an answer for yet. If the R on the HR will make it a spereate monitor and prevent it from working.
I thought we worked out the EDID on the R and the HR was the same. 99% sure this is just an Asus stock code.
