competitive fps on consoles is a joke. there is no depth of skill because of auto-aim + imprecise controls.

By that logic anyone playing console FPS would have the same KDR. Anyone thinking FPS skill is mostly related to aim is sorely mistaken. Aiming is the easiest part of an FPS in my opinion, put the reticle over the enemy, not hard. Choosing the right weapon, knowing where the enemy is before you come around the corner, placing mines in the right places, reloading at the right times, those are skills that are no different between console and PC FPS and they make more of a difference than how you aim.

Obviously you're wrong, Call Of Duty and Halo are more popular than basically every PC game..Ever...Isn't that enough to prove you wrong? No amount of twisting reality will change that.

You obviously forgot about Runescape.

I disagree. Map knowledge, game mechanics knowledge, movement, and etc are just as important as being able to aim in a FPS game. A player who has good aim, will still demolish players who have poor aim, but great map knowledge, movement, game mechanics and etc.

Good aim just has slightly more weight than the others.

It's why players who have good aim, can touch just about every FPS game and still be above average than the normal joe.

welp I ended up ordering halo 4, dusting off the old xbox, microsoft will most likely make over $100 from me, $10 a month for XBL, $25 for the map pass. money well spent I think. HALO 4 is actually the first halo game to run in native 720p resolution. Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST each ran at a native resolution of 1152×640, which was then upscaled to 720p. Halo Reach ran at 1152 x 720 then upscaled to 720p. They did a major engine overhaul and Halo 4 finally runs at 1280 x 720 thumb.gif

Despite the console itself being ancient, 343 actually managed to improve the graphics...
Quote:
Halo 4 uses a redesigned version of the Halo: Reach engine that outputs "true native" 720p graphics and uses FXAA (Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing) to smooth out the graphics in the game. This is a first in the series as all previous games outputted in sub-HD resolutions and were hounded mercilessly for that fact.

I have to agree with dmasteR. Mastering aiming mechanics is very important. tongue.gif

Yep. I'm more of a keyboard and mouse kind of person. It's far easier, for me at least, to get my mouse to point at one very specific spot on the map than it is for me to use a 360 controller to try to aim at some bad guys/aliens/whatever shooting at me. I've seen some impressive people play consoles far better than I ever will be able to. So not getting a PC port of this makes me a little sad, but I got the 360 version of it for my birthday so I'm struggling my way through SP campaign then I'm going to shelf it. My skills with a keyboard/mouse allow me to be helpful/competitve/whatever on a PC, but my controller skills suck bad enough I know there's no use whatsoever in me even trying MP.

All that aside, it is great fun!

M/KB is more precise then controllers. Regardless Halo is one of the last truly skill based FPS left. You may think it's non-competitive but the competitive gaming world disagrees with you. Halo is really the last arena style multiplayer game still being made and selling. People should appreciate it if anything for that alone.

And honestly even Halo might be moving towards a more casual playstyle. Reach probabally had the most unbalanced multiplayer of any of the games. We'll see if 4 fixes the issues that plagued Reach's multiplayer and if 343 can get the play style more towards what made 2 and 3 so great in that regard.
