WC Advice Needed - 2x GPU (Crossfire) + CPU

Hi all!

I'm new to this forum so thanks in advance for taking the time to help me! biggrin.gif

These are the parts I need water cooled:

Case: NZXT Switch 810 (Matte Black)
GPU(s): 2x Asus 7970 Matrix Platinum (Crossfire)
CPU: Intel i7 3930K

The budget is in the air right now simply because I really don't know the "level" (???) of water cooling I'll for these particular components so I figured why not ask the experts?! Let me know what your thoughts and please let me know if you want me to provide any more information! Thanks again for your help and looking forward to hearing your responses!

Best,

First off, those graphics cards don't seem reference so you'll have trouble finding a full cover block for them. If you want to keep those cards you're probably going to have to use a GPU-only block and some ramsinks. Beyond that, we're gonna need more details. What kind of overclock are you trying to achieve on your CPU? How much noise can you tolerate? Are you willing to try and mod parts of your case? Things like that.

Thanks for the prompt response!

  • CPU Overclock: 4.5-4.7Ghz - Whatever ends up being more stable based on the water cooling kit used!
  • Noise: I'd prefer to have it more on the quiet side though I'm not going to go anal if there is a bit of noise. Nothing too crazy though, no leaf blower action!
  • Modding: In terms of modding, I'd rather not do any modding since this is my first build and I want to keep everything simple, in terms of modding. After I learn a bit more and get more of the proper tools, I plan to start modding in my next build.

    Other Notes
  • I'd prefer to keep everything internal. I know that the NZXT Switch 810 can hold 2 rads so I'm hoping that works to my advantage.
  • I plan to overclock my GPU's also to 1.31GHz each.
  • The mobo I'll be using is the Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79.

Do you think that I might have to do a dual loop for this one? One for the CPU and a more higher-end one for the dual GPUs. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!
