No volume control in Windows with TOSLINK

Thread Starter
My audio setup is in my sig, just harvested some Klipsch ProMedia satellites and hooked them up to a new receivr and sub. It works and sounds great, but one small problem, I can't control the volume level in Windows. I can just fine through the receiver, but it's nice to be able to use the volume knowb on my keyboard. The receiver is connected via TOSLINK.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge.

To me it looks like you're using pass-through audio to amp...
Or maybe "Allow application to take exclusive control of this device" setting in advanced setting of playback device.

I'm using WASAPI plugin to pass-through audio from foobar to amp, this way I don't get any control over volume from windows, but from foobar and amp. Same goes when I pass-through DTS from vide player. I can select different output, like stereo, in software I'm using and I'll be able to control volume from windows.
Doesn't matter if I do it with HDMI or toslink, as long as I use pass-through.
So, I'm just guessing based on my scenario wink.gif
