That's a very reasonable deal. Sequential speeds will be slightly below current 1TB-platter 7200RPM drives, but access times will be far lower. Overall I'd say it fits nicely inbetween drives like the ST1000DM003 / WD10EZEX and SSDs. A good Steam games drive.

I have been seriously considering this ever since I first got the E-Blast email... For $198 I could have a 1.2TB RAID0 10krpm setup, which is $90 less than the single 1TB drive, and all the benchmarks I've seen have put 2-drive RAID0 performance at around 285-325MB/s Read and 300-330MB/s Write (sequential, first 50% of disks). I am going to be grabbing a 2-3TB external HDD here anyway for backups (USB3.0+eSATA, just not sure which model exactly) and with a 256GB Samsung 830 for OS/boot, a 1.2TB RAID0 V-Raptor array would be pure awesomeness for video and audio editing, and even for keeping larger games stored on....

I have been watching fleabay for a good price on a PERC6/i RAID Controller Card with the BBU and full cable set included, as I was at my University library on the computer a week or so ago just browsing around and missed the chance to grab one brand-new alongside a (can't remember brand name) 4U rackmount case (chassis?) with 2 4-fan "hotswap" cooling trays(?) that had brand new Sanyo Denkei 120x38 ~3500rpm fans.... All for $77.18 w $15 shipping!!!
(Now I am obsessed with finding a PERC6/i card + BBU + SATA/SAS Breakout Cables for under $50 and in "NEW" condition)
