Budget gaming/school build for a friend? - Page 2

Well, I could only get one withing your budget, its only $600 without tax or shipping so should equal out to about $700 or less
Note with this build, you will still need to buy a monitor. Since black friday is comming up, you can probably find a decent monitor for under $100
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1EKQCH

I will make you another one from newegg, but I dont know if you can build it yourself, so we will see... (I will just edit this post, so refresh it after a little bit)

*Edit*
Just found this on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227436

*Edit*
Ok so if your feeling ambitious or know someone who can build this for you here is a do it yourself that will be fast as hell

Case: Thermaltake V3 $44.99
Processor:i5-3570k (completely overkill and overclockable for when he gets into it, which he will eventually) $219.99
Motherboard: ASRock Z75 Pro3 It has lots of USB3 ports and 2 PCI ports for video cards. $79.99
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) $47.99
Power Supply: Silverstone ST50F-ES 500W Power Supply Has 80+ certification which is important! $54.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Blue 500GB $69.99
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 GHz $119.99
Keyboard and Mouse: Generic Logitech Keyboard/Mouse combo $17.99
Speakers: Generic Logitech Satalite Speakers $12.99
Total: about $750 with windows 7

Umm... 2 things, 1: Where is the video card and 2: why have you chosen a super high latency Samsung ram over some like say corsair or G.Skill and actually 3: Windows 8?? WHY???

I have tried it, it didnt even start minecraft which is what op needs. And no, minecraft will not run well off integrated graphics, needs at least a decent video card, and third, the CAS latency on that samsung ram he picked out is 11!!! THATS HUGE! I found G.Skill Ares with a cas of 9, same speed, same amount for $37.99
I say, ditch the SSD and get a dedicated video card
*EDIT*
I say, based on that guys parts, get rid of the ssd, change out the ram, and pick up a GTX 560ti http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mKde

An APU can run minecraft without an issue.... kookoo.gif

The Samsung RAM can be overclocked very high, which is why it is chosen for APUs... APUS like higher frequency and the average user will not notice a difference between CAS 9 and CAS 11

my 4 year old hp laptop with an integrated 4220 runs minecraft at a solid 40 fps with render set to far. an apu will get around 75, and my laptop is also running windows 8.

I do believe that OP said he would not be overclocking. And no, the average used, especially one who hasnt owned a good comp before will not notice the difference between cas or 9 and 11, but it is still faster, and cheap might I add

I did not know the APU was so good, still would be better for the long run to have a dedicated GPU, and alot more important then SSD's

A SSD is actually the best upgrade an average user can make. It will make everything feel much faster. Trinity needs to have 1866MHz RAM in order to eliminate bottlenecks. An APU is fully capable of gaming, and if a 6670 is added, it will have about the same power as a 7770.

Very true, I know that stores ie: Futureshop/Best Buy put an SSD in to make the computer feel faster, but, in game in something like minecraft, and SSD will make no significant difference as opposed to a dedicated GPU. If he starts playing other games (which is inevitable), then the SSD will only make maps load faster and maybe gain 5-10 FPS.
Im not saying an SDD is pointless, I know that if you have a fast system they make all the difference, im just saying that for OP's usage, it wont be as helpful as a GPU.
