what are you talking about? AMDs gotten alot better and is at least on par with nvidia now. I don't think your likely to see any noticeable drop from windows performance with the latest drivers.

AMD video drivers have been highly problematic in Linux so often and for so long that it's pretty much common knowledge and still (last I checked) pretty accurate to say that nVidia is clearly the card to get for Linux.

I'll take which ever card performs most reliably at a high level, but until AMD can undo their well-deserved bad rep in Linux, I'll stick to nVidia.

nvidia provide very little support for ANYTHING FOSS. so even if there drivers are slitly better then AMD's, AMD provides (or provided before this layoff thing) better support for open sources in general

As much as I'm an OSS guy if the code doesn't work then it is meaningless FOSS, OSS, or closed. I'm with Nvidia because they work (though since when has anyone been 100%) and don't have threads/posts/whole websites (might exaggerated there) about how their drivers cause so much problems in an OS. I'm still hoping AMD will get better and better as again...their Trinity stuff has me dreaming.

1. I think we all agree quad pile drivers + 6670 all under 65watts is the most amazing thing AMDs or possibly any chipmaker has done in years

2. I completely disagree. if the code doesn't work the licenese matters more. with closed your justed fu(ked, with FOSS theres a greater chance something can actually get done

This. I'm all for FOSS, and I go that route when I can, but only if it makes sense to do so.
