Quesiton on a custom build for a server

Hi OCN,

I was interested in building a small computer and was wondering if this equipment would work out well? I would increase the ram, but ram is dirt cheap so I don't really need to include it in the price, however I am thinking 16GB would be fine? But, I already have a case (its an ATX case). I was mostly wondering if the processor could handle esxi plus a few virtual machines? Probably a bigger hard drive, too, because I would use this as a NAS.

Plenty strong to run a few VM's. The AMD rig is fully capable of handling your server needs, but isn't nearly as power efficient as the Celeron.

I will be just dinking around with Esxi and active directory, so do do you think I should buy a whole new computer or continue to use virtualbox and maybe put more ram into my host computer (gaming rig/amd)

Playing with active directory is kind of pointless unless you have clients. It's fine if they are virtual, but be sure you have enough RAM to drive a few of them.
