[BBC] Microsoft ditches Windows Live Messenger for Skype - Page 2

that's funny, i prefer to use skype for file transfers rather than MSN due to the fact that should one side ever get disconnected, the file transfer will automatically reconnect and continue upon reconnecting. and same with messages. There were many times when MSN just drops a couple lines of my message leaving the other end wondering what the heck i was talking about, lol.

Now if only skype allowed the addition of custom emoticons.. =x

Been using windows live messenger version 8 forever, the more recent versions are full of bloatware and ads. Sad to see WLM go, been using it to keep in touch with people for over 10 years now.

I'm not surprised actually. WLM really died after 2009.

Skype have already done that. It's called Skype.

Microsoft also released Windows Live Messenger for Mac as well but it only came in Microsoft Mac Office.

Well, right now I find myself using Facebook quite a lot, because I prefer to use instant messaging systems where I can just "leave a message". There's a slight problem... I'm growing to hate Facebook and everything it stands for.

With Skype, if I send an offline message the recipient will not receive it until both the sender and receiver are online at the same time. I haaate this. When I try to leave offline messages, they usually send a few days later when we're both logged in and my friends are wondering what the hell I'm talking about.

MSN has offline messages that still go through, even if the recipient is offline.

The only reason I use WLM is for the E-mail notification thing. If they get that into Skype, I'll finally be able to free up all 26mb of RAM that it uses rolleyes.gif

I stopped using WLM a year ago. I've never used Skype. No, that's a lie. I tried once, it was too complicated.
