I am a man of my principles. I refuse to allow myself to be listened in on by a private company without a warrant without the legal recourse to sue them into next Tuesday.
Microsoft has no reason to be able to listen in on my conversation without a warrant. For me, that is good enough to tell Microsoft to (expletive) off.

I prefer the chat on WLM it seems easier to use, you just click on someone and type the message and hit enter - also seemless integration with facebook chat instead of using that rubbish web messenger, with skype the text chat seems awkward
But on the other hand I prefer the video chat on Skype, So i hope they use the WLM messaging and the Skype video chat - that would be great
