Could You Build A Better Setup?

After a lot of shopping around and agonizing over a setup for my pc I've just given up and think I'll be buying this...

What do you guys think? How much worse is it than a 2.1 setup I build myself? Could you recommend something better in the same price range? Should I just get a receiver with a digital input and some nice speakers and sub?

I like music and gaming equally.
