Looking for a new MOBO

Thread Starter
Hey guys, since Black Friday is almost here, I have been keeping an eye out on Newegg deals for a new motherboard. Currently using the one in my sig, so it's quite old.

Anyways, I'm looking for one around the $100-$125 range, maybe a bit more.

This one currently went on sale, and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this board?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130645&nm_mc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r&cm_mmc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r-_-Motherboards+-+Intel-_-MSI-_-13130645

Or should I wait to see what else will go on sale?

Much thanks.

You have to buy new memory and CPU. You know, right?

$115 after MIR
Also this, or this, or this.

Z77X-D3h is the best choice imho. Then Extreme4 with XE4.

Yup, which is why I'm looking for something in that price range. Would buy a bit better board if I could.

No reason, really. As far as overclocking goes, all these boards will be fine. Z77X-D3H and Biostar can handle 5Ghz clocks, but you may have problems with the other two. Z77X-D3H and Extreme4 support SLI whereas the other two don't. Feature wise they all are decent. Since Z77X-D3H has both SLI and good VRM, it's the best choice out of four, but not necessary the cheapest.

That's a decent board. I've seen some good #'s with it. What will you be doing? Gaming?

SLI/CF isn't a concern for me, will be sticking to single card. What would be different between the GA-Z77X-D3H and the MSI Z77A-G45?

Yes. Will pair it with 8GB's RAM, and either a 2500k or a 2600k (will be getting either for very cheap, but not a guarantee right now).

G45 has the worst VRM out of all 5 boards mentioned over here. It has just 4 phases without doubling with some crappy mosfets. I don't recommend that board at all since they are at least 4 better choices.

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-D3H or ASRock Z77 Extreme4

As long as you send in the rebate for the Gigabyte mobo, it'll be a better deal thumb.gif
thinking.gif Heck even if you don't send in the rebate, the Gigabyte mobo is still a better deal for $15 more thumbsupsmiley.png ...IMO whistle.gif
