Well since the mobo supports it, you can get the one I linked. It might still be on sale. I still trust Corsair with memory. But only with memory.

*Also, if something did not come in, complain! Seriously that's 40 bucks they are trying to cheap you out of. I mean, I would complain...

Red dog,
I did complain and they are going to make it right. I thought I'd get more and faster memory, the deal was for 2x4gb 1333, so I thought I'd get 4x4GB 1600. Also, do you think a Radeon 7870 video card is a good match for this system?
im looking at graphic cards as well considering 2 options now, either the sapphire 7950 or wait till the 8000 series.

Since i am new to overclocking this is going to be kind of a question as well statement at the same time lol.
From what i read, if overclocking is it better to stick with 2 sticks of ram instead of filling up all the slots?

6850 is all you ever need IMO.

There are several 6850 on the market at around 100 bucks, maybe 120. I got 6850 from ASUS and I never saw it chug once.

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=636&card2=678
^6850 vs 7850.
They both pack very similar gear [look at shader processors, etc.] but 7850 has superior architecture. Which shows on the results, but not by much... Meanwhile for the price of an average 7850 one can probably get 2 6850 which WILL rip a 7850 a new ... well you know lol.

So yeah, I am by no means end all be all on this question[overclock.net has many many FAR more knowledgeable gents and gals than me], but I'd really go for 6850. Maybe 6870 if you got spare cash. Go on ebay and look for higher end 6xxx series. for 200 bucks you can probably score 6950 which is a beast.
*EDITED*
I found several 6950s on ebay all seem in very good condition and with money back, so yeah. If you got cash, get 6950. Its better than 7850 for less money

Looks like I can get a new saphire Radeon 6950 for $148 but the box is damaged

So I tested my 6850 yesterday... I would have to say, that I can't believe how far games advanced in years I've been out. I guess 6850 is not enough to play everything on Ultra. It can play everything, just not on ultras, however with some tricks [read below] I was able to squeeze as much as 33%+ more out of it on some benches. Sniper Elite V2 bench finished at 34-35fps [started at 24-25fps], Lost Planet 2 got at least 10 extra fps, and on 3DMark 11[basic] I got almost extra 700 points...

So yeah, good old 6850 is certainly NOT what it used to be and can't play all games on Ultra settings, BUT still holds the front with special editions. ^^

*If anyone comes across XFX 6850 XXX or [ASUS-EAH6850-direct-cu or maybe Saphire 6850 Toxic] for an ok price[120-ish?], take it. I clocked it at "drum roll" 1.01GHz Yesterday [on core]! I used trixx, and overvolted it to 1.295 with mem clock at 1170Mhz. So yeah... It was a great day yesterday ^^ I used XFX 6850 XXX, from what I read, Toxic and ASUS-EAH should have similar marks of almost a 1Ghz. Mind you, this was all on STOCK COOLING. Temps have not rose above 70 so far [low 60s for now, but I didn't Furmark it in yet, but I have run benches on it for good 2 hours straight after the clocking]^^.

P.S. oneeyeddog
Do you mean the card's shroud is damaged? or just the box said card came in? Do they offer at least 14 days money back guarantee? Any other warranties?

I just logged back on and it was gone. I think they meant just the box, the packaging itself. I guess I'm a little leary about buying used/ damaged electronics as I've never done it before. Should have pounced on this deal though.

Don't beat yourself up too much mate it can be a total crapshoot. In general if there is some protection for buyer [seller guarantees money back or eBay protects the deal, and etc.] than it could just waist your time, but hopefully not money. Overall though, buying electronics online is just always risky = \

I pounced on that 6850 and got lucky, doesn't mean I was right [or thinking clearly heh]. But yeah. If you are ok with potential delays, and you document the purchase, ebay buyer protection for example SHOULD help, again, not 100% on it, you could just call up ebay and ask them all about it if you'd like? I mean, I'd imagine they have a good tech support?
