Looking for an awesome hdtv

I'm currently in the market for a 55 Inch HDTV. I'm willing to spend no more than 1500.
I don't care for 3D. And please no Sony products. Let me know what's the best TV I can get for 1500.

Best for that price you can get is probably the Panasonic VIERA TC-P55ST50 (55 or maybe 60 inch depending where you buy it). It has the best picture quality in its price range, better viewing angles than a LCD/LED-LCD, and is also a very thin plasma TV at that. Easily the best you can get in your price range.

Plasmas will have a better picture over all. This is especially noticeable when it comes to blacks. It's an area where LED-LCD TVs have made improvement, but they are not close to the level of what plasma TVs can reach. Colors are likely to be more accurate as well (Though alot of the higher end LED-LCD TVs have very accurate colors as well). When it comes to picture, the accuracy of the colors in a picture and detail in in it will favor Plasmas. You could argue the Panasonic ST50 (Which isn't even Panasonic's top series) is better than most of the expensive LED-LCD TVs and. You won't be able to find a LED-LCD that can match the ST50 at its price point.

Thanks for your comment. You have steered me into a direction towards coming to a decision.
Thank you

I second the Viera. They are pretty much where it's at when it comes to picture quality.

Also, an LED TV is just an LCD with LEDs in place of florescent back lighting, it still suffers the same limitations as any other LCD.

This guy is right, it's not even close.

Way, way too many issues with cheap LED panels compared to plasma in this price range. The motion handling for anything fast moving like movies and sports are also much better on plasma.
