Is it possible to sync an internal HD w/ext HD, sort of like Dropbox but just hardware/software no cloud?

Title pretty much describes what I am looking for. I have a 3TB hard drive internal and external. I take the external on the road with me, it has all my movies and tv shows on it. Is it possible to sort of set up a dropbox-like sync with them? Pretend I have The Amazing Spiderman on both my internal and external drive. But then while I'm gone my wife downloads the movie in HD and deletes the original. So I get home and my internal has a file called The Amazing Spiderman (HD) and is now missing The Amazing Spiderman. So my external syncs and removes the original and puts the HD on there....

Yes, I've done this with software called syncback pro. It's worth every penny and gives you all KINDS of options. I think there may be a free version with fewer options, might suit you.
