Hey guys,

I've just been told that the RAM I ordered is going to take ages to get into stock. This is what I ordered: http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/174534/MEMORY_MEMORY_DDR-3_RAM/G.Skill/F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM.asp

Could anyone recommend me an alternative to this? I want to be able to use it in my current rig as well as Haswell next year when I upgrade. I have always been a fan of G.Skill but I want to make sure I'm getting the right sticks in terms of compatibility, speed and timings. I must admit I am not very well educated on RAM timings so anyone who could give me their two cents on what to get I would be hugely grateful to. Must be 8GB, which ever I can get for $100 or under or so.

PCCaseGear have it in stock and I could just buy it from there instead, unless you think there is a better alternative for around the same price point.

since they are rated at 1.5V you could raise the voltage and tighten the timings up

i couldnt say for sure exactly but i would be pretty confident you could tighten them up better than the other kit..

That's true. The voltage on the ones I originally ordered is pretty high to begin with. I'll try and get it changed to the ones you linked - save me a bit of cash too!

yep they were at 1.65V so with the red kit at 1.5V you could do alot with 0.15V and yep save abit of cash too

if you mange to change your order it will be interesting to see how tight you can make them timings

9-9-9 probably not, but if these are Hynix CFR then they should overclock roughly the same as the 2133C9 kit, i.e. 9-11-10 at DDR3-2133.
You might as well go with the 2133C9 version of Ares or 2400C10 version of RipjawsZ which cost roughly the same
