Graphics after new consoles release

The current generation of consoles are sadly under powered, even by the standards of when they were launched. It's not news that consoles have always been like this. It is also true that most games are developed for consoles first because they represent the largest finicial base for the game industry, forcing PC games to be limited by console technology.

What can we expect from PC games, say, one or two years after the new consoles launch, because we all know the full potential of the new consoles will not be fully realized. It takes several game developments before developers discover the vast majority of the tricks they end up using in later games to push the console graphically. With that being said once developers hit their stride what can expect from new PC games? All the way from polygon count to any other forms of representation and comparison

Probably just more games supporting the newest DirectX out of the box, honestly.
