What portion failed? Port forwarding is quite easy...
Open port, forward to desired IP address behind NAT
Do you just have your Motorolla, or is there another router behind it, if so you will need to bride the two to make it work.

Does your modem support UPnP? If so I think I have a program I can upload for you that actually can force ports to be opened on UPnP.

PortForward.zip 132k .zip file
Try using this program. Enable UPnP, then with your computer connected to this modem use the program. Launch the .exe in the release folder. It should be pretty self explanatory and then once you do it you can see if it port forwarded what you want by looking at your UPnP port forwards on your modem.

I don't like UPnP at all, big security risk IMO.
You might not know what it means, basically it allows any program to automatically create port forwards.
Hello, I'm a virus, I'm gonna open port X so I can download this payload, then I'm gonna open port Y and start spreading to other machines.
Port forwarding is easy, so the convenience UPnP adds is not worth it at all if you ask me...
